TELL US TUESDAY

Fayetteville is full of great places for any weather, but today's TELL US TUESDAY is asking for your favorite place to spend an overcast day. We'd love to hear from you!

Our pick? Arsaga's Cafe in the Fayetteville Public Library on Mountain St. in Downtown Fayetteville. It's the best place to grab a local cup of Joe, a great book and just enjoy the overcast day.
Look forward to hearing your thoughts!

RAZORBACK RED OUT!

Razorback Athletics is partnering with the student body at the University of Arkansas to host a Razorback Red Out this Saturday for the Arkansas-Alabama football game at Donald W. Reynolds Razorback Stadium.

"Our football team, Coach Petrino and our student body want a Razorback Red Out this weekend so let's join together to give them one," Director of Athletics Jeff Long said. "We are asking all our fans to wear Razorback red as they cheer on the Hogs. This is a great opportunity for people around the nation to see the tremendous passion of the Razorback fans. I have no doubt that our fans will be here in full force, dressed in Razorback red and extra loud in helping provide our football team a tremendous home field advantage."

The game is officially sold out, will be nationally televised on CBS, and marks the first time two top-10 nationally ranked teams have met in Fayetteville since 1979.

Five Easy Ways to Green Up Your Tailgate!

That coolness in the air means football and tailgating season has arrived. But can you make a stadium outing less of a green disaster? Try these tips:

The Green Barbecue.
Your lowest-impact grilling option is propane. Sure, propane is a fossil fuel — but it burns a lot cleaner than charcoal or wood fires, leaves behind less waste and is particularly convenient when cooking away from home.
Earth-friendly Eats.
Go with local, seasonal produce in your favorite recipes. The great thing about tailgating season is that it coincides with the biggest selection of the year down at the farmers market.
Organic Brew.
‘Green beer’ isn't just for St. Patrick’s Day. Big players like Anheuser-Busch have gotten into the act, so organic brew may very well be sold wherever you normally buy groceries.
Ditching the Disposables.
Pick up lightweight, plastic place settings. It’s a great outdoor investment and better on the environment.
A Little Entertainment.
Crank your own tunes with the Eton Emergency Radio.

UA Alma Mater History

Did you know...
The current version of the University of Arkansas Alma Mater was written in 1909 by Brodie Payne, who submitted his song to an ongoing competition that was trying to find a song for the university and won first prize.

Did you know...
Henry Tovey set the song to music and in 1931, the University College Song Association reviewed a collection of 500 college tunes and the UA Alma Mater was judged to be one of the Top 25 Best College Songs in the US.

University of Arkansas Alma Mater
Pure as the dawn on the brow of thy beauty
Watches thy soul from the mountains of God
Over the Fates of thy children departed
Far from the land where their footsteps have trod.
Beacon of hope in the ways dreary lighted;
Pride of our hearts that are loyal and true;
From those who adore unto one who adores us—
Mother of Mothers, we sing unto you.

We, with our faces turned high to the Eastward,
Proud of our place in the vanguard of Truth,
Will sing unto thee a new song of thanksgiving—
Honor to God and the Springtime of Youth.
Shout of the victor or tear of the vanquished;
Sunshine or tempest thy heart is e'er true;
Pride of the Hills and the white-laden Lowlands—
Mother of Mothers, we kneel unto you.

Ever the Legions of Sin will assail us,
Ever the Battle in Cities afar;
Still in the depths will thy Spirit eternal
Beckon us on like a piloting Star.
Down in dim years do thy dead children call thee,
Wafted to Sleep while the Springtime was new;
We, of the Present, thy hope of the Future—
Mother of Mothers, we pray unto you.
